Propel Leadership Program Inspires Diverse Hiring

In 2019, S&P Global launched its first 18-month Propel learning experience to prepare leaders for the evolving hiring landscape through individual development, real world immersion and coaching.

The first cohort of 23 senior leaders from across the company visited large companies and start-ups in global locations to examine the theme of curiosity, and to explore how nonprofits and purpose-driven companies incorporate the theme of care while serving underrepresented communities.

Marcus Daley, Chief Technology Officer at S&P Global Ratings, was among our first cohort of executives. “This was a transformational opportunity to see the world through a new lens. I feel privileged to work for a company that is so focused on developing the workforce of the future. My experience with this program has inspired me and my colleagues to take action to advance our goals of a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture.”

  • Propel strengthens our leadership pipeline by preparing senior executives to lead in an increasingly dynamic business environment while reinforcing the fundamental leadership qualities of curiosity, care and courage.
  • Per Scholas, a Bronx, NY-based nonprofit visited by the Propel cohort, provides technology education, training and job placements; nine of ten trainees are people of color, one-third are women and one-third are young adults disconnected from work or school.
  • S&P Global Ratings has formed a recruitment partnership with Per Scholas and plans to work with Per Scholas trainees in 2020 as entry-level technicians, in quality assurance, and other roles.
